Permits & Safety
Planned and Permitted for Florida
Pools, fences and outdoor structures need permits in South Florida. We plan them correctly from the start.
Pool Safety
Florida’s Residential Swimming Pool Safety Act requires new residential pools to have at least one approved safety feature, such as a pool barrier, an approved safety cover or door and window alarms.
Permits
Pools, fences, covered patios and outdoor kitchens with gas or electrical work typically require permits. We handle the applications and inspections.
Drainage
Grading and drainage that move water away from the house and the pool deck during summer storms.
Materials
Pavers, decking and finishes that stand up to sun, salt air and humidity.

FAQ
Backyard & Pool FAQ
Do I need a permit for a pool in Florida?
Yes. A new pool requires a building permit and inspections, along with the safety features required by Florida law. We include them in the plans and coordinate the inspections.
What safety features does Florida require for a new pool?
Florida’s Residential Swimming Pool Safety Act requires at least one approved safety feature, such as a pool barrier (fence), an approved safety cover, or alarms on doors and windows that open to the pool area. Your local building department may require more.
Can you design the whole backyard at once?
Yes. We plan the pool, deck, outdoor kitchen, lighting and landscaping together, so every element fits and works as one space.
Who builds the pool itself?
Under Florida law, a general contractor can build a pool’s structure, while the rest of the pool work, such as plumbing and equipment, is done by a licensed pool contractor. We plan and coordinate it as one project, together with the deck, outdoor kitchen and landscaping.
What materials work best for pool decks in South Florida?
Pavers and textured concrete are common choices because they handle sun and water well. We help you choose finishes that are comfortable underfoot and suit your home’s style.
